Ruth Steele was educated at Keele University gaining a Dual Honours BSc in Mathematics and Music and a Certificate in Education. She also holds a LGSM Piano Teaching Diploma.
She taught in primary schools across Stoke-on-Trent, ultimately working for Stoke-on-Trent City Music Service as Music and ICT specialist, Senior Curriculum Teacher and Music Teacher Advisor.
Ruth has significant experience in teaching Early Years and Primary Music, delivering Music Technology projects, Family Learning projects, leading training sessions and directing choirs. She has also taught Piano, Flute, Recorder and Clarinet.
Ruth took the Joint Lead role for the Service in 2015 and became sole Lead for the Music Service in 2019.
Jenny Mawdsley was educated at Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds where she gained a BA Hons in Music and PGCE in Secondary Music with Music Management.
She is a woodwind specialist (Clarinet & Saxophone) and has worked as an instrumental teacher for Music Services in the Midlands since 1996. She has taught curriculum music to pupils ranging from nursery to Key Stage 4 and before joining Stoke-on-Trent City Music Service was employed as a Music Specialist at a Primary School in Walsall.
Jenny is an experienced conductor, especially of Jazz & Wind Ensembles and in addition to her teaching has taken on other roles during her career including Curriculum Leader, Music Centre Manager and Teaching & Learning Leader. She has also worked as a trainer for Charanga and Yamaha.
She joined Stoke-on-Trent City Music Service as Deputy Lead in January 2020
